Getting Started with PlanSwift
You’ve invested in PlanSwift® to help you with your takeoff and estimating workflows. That’s a great first step, but you may now be wondering, “Well, where do I start?” Although we’ve designed PlanSwift to make onboarding your team easy, there is some set up needed before you can start knocking out those estimates. Our trade-specific Starter Packs are a great resource to help you get value out of your investment in PlanSwift.
What are Starter Packs?
Starter Packs are an assortment of assemblies, parts, and takeoff items custom-designed for various trades. Planswift’s Starter Packs make it easier and less frustrating to go from installation to sending an estimate. We know that the effort needed to create these building blocks is better spent analyzing plans, drawing takeoff, and reviewing your estimate to ensure you’ve coved all your bases. As your takeoff and estimating solution partner, we want you to be up-and-running as quickly as possible.
Starter Packs include Material and Labor components, but you will need to update pricing based on your supplier and prevailing wage costs.

Don’t See a Starter Pack for your trade?
If you don’t see a Starter Pack for your trade, that doesn’t mean PlanSwift isn’t the takeoff and estimating tool for you. You may need to build your assemblies, parts, and takeoff items yourself, however, you can always save them and re-use them once you’ve created them!
PlanSwift makes building your own parts, assemblies, and takeoff items easy and our professional training team is ready to help you customize PlanSwift to suit your needs.
What’s all included in a typical Starter Pack?
Check out Starter Packs in the PlanSwift Knowledgebase for details about what is included in each Starter Pack.
In most, you’ll find custom-built assemblies (i.e., specific wall types, plumbing fixtures, and concrete objects, including materials, labor, and parts), parts (components of assemblies), and takeoff items that give you a head start on your estimating project. Use these assemblies and takeoff items to speed up your takeoff and estimating so that you can spend your valuable time analyzing results and perfecting your bid.
